Elle Lothlorien

A “military brat,” Elle Lothlorien was born in Germany and spent her childhood in such far-flung places as Puerto Rico, Charleston, S.C., Italy, and Washington D.C. Sadly, the only language she ever became semi-fluent in is English. Elle’s first novel, the self-published romantic comedy, THE FROG PRINCE, became an Amazon bestseller for the first time in December of 2010, and the second time in February 2012. Her second novel, the “darkish” romantic comedy, SLEEPING BEAUTY, became a bestseller in February 2012. In April 2012—in response to the number of fans who felt that the main character ended up with “the wrong guy”—Elle published an “Alternate Version” of SLEEPING BEAUTY. She also released a religious/historical thriller, VIRGIN, in December 2011. She is currently finishing her third romantic comedy, RAPUNZEL, and expects to release it in late May 2012. Her follow-up thriller, BEAST, will likely be released in the summer of 2013. Elle is considered a “reluctant expert” on electronic self-publishing (also called “indie-publishing”), and has been invited to speak and lead workshops for writers, authors, and the even the publishing industry—most noticeably the “Successful Self-Published Authors” panel at Digital BookWorld Expo in January 2012—from coast to coast and everywhere in between. She frequently writes about the business of indie-publishing, including e-book pricing, the changing relationship between readers and authors, and the psychology of e-book purchasing. read more » Although her expertise is in the area of indie-publishing, Elle is not “anti-traditional publishing,” and believes that too many authors jump to indie-publishing with the false conviction that it’s a “sure thing,” without understanding the enormity of the undertaking first, and what it takes to succeed. Elle has been a member of the guest faculty for The Writing School in Denver, Colorado since January 2012. She lives in Denver, Colorado, and keeps two dachshunds around the house to provide comic relief.
